December 2007

I finally have a minute to update the blog. As you can see from the pictures, we have a new little one. Emma Claire Horne was born on November 8. She weighed 7 lbs 9 oz and was 20 inches long. I just got back from Emma's 1 month check-up. She already weighs 10 lbs! She's growing so fast. She is a great baby. She sleeps most of the day and only wakes up twice at night. She doesn't look anything like Izzy. Izzy was short and chunky and Emma is long and thin.  We moved back to the BR area 5 days after she was born. I really haven't had a second to catch my breath, much less to put pictures on the computer. Izzy HATES it when we get on the computer, so nap time is all I have! Anyway, Izzy is now 15 months and has quite the little personality. She is starting to repeat words that we say. Her vocabulary is getting a little bigger: hello, hi, baby, nana (banana), cookcook (cookie), becca, dad, daddy, mom, abra (emma), night night. She is getting more interested in Emma. She likes to hold her hands and feet. She gets very concerned when Emma cries. I think she is going to be a great big sister...although I think by this time next year Emma will be taller than Izzy. I will try to post monthly. And I will add pictures of Izzy when I get a minute.

Izzy is 1!

Isabelle is 1! We had her birthday party last weekend in Baton Rouge at Becca's house. It was very HOT outside and Izzy was in a VERY bad mood all day. She could have cared less about the party. She would only go to me or Matt. She was very whiny and cried most of the day. Izzy didn't really care for the cake, but she tore up the icecream. After everyone left she was all of a sudden in a great mood and ready to play. Typical! My best friend Lauren and her baby Caroline surprised us at the party. They live in North Carolina..I had NO idea they were coming. It was the best part of the day.

Izzy has been walking for about a month now. She is all over the place. She can wreck an entire house in no time. She really likes moving the kitchen chairs around the house. No new words. She still says "good girl", "mmm" for moo and "ca" for quack. Along with "dada" and "mom". She knows certain commands, "where's your milk" and "where's lamberkins" (her favorite toy) When I ask those questions she stops what she is doing and goes to find them. That's about it for now. Happy Birthday Izzy!

11 Months Old

I can't believe Izzy is 11 months old! It's just gone by too fast. She is still into everything as you can see from the pictures. She LOVES playing in the tupperware cabinet and helping mommy fold the clothes. She is now drinking from a sippy cup and we started switching her to cow milk this week. Bye, bye formula!!! She took her first steps by herself the other day. She will only take at most 4 steps at a time. She has two new teeth, totalling 4! 3 on bottom and one on top. The top one just broke through yesterday. She has quite the appetite these days. She eats more than I do. We bought her "big girl" carseat and have let her ride around the block in it. She LOVES it. It's very nice to have her face forward. We have started potty training. It's going pretty good. She gone potty on the big potty several times. We still have a very long way to go, but she likes potty time so we do it a couple of times a day. Izzy knows what sound a cow makes. If you show her a cow or ask her what sound a cow makes she says, "mmmm". She also likes to smack her lips like she is giving you a kiss. It's adorable. Her FAVORITE toy/thing in the world is her lamb, "Lamberkins". She carries him in her mouth by his ear all over the place. He used to be a bedtime only thing, but lately she has been freeing him from the crib. I put him in there and 5 minutes later she comes out of her room with him in her mouth. I might need to stock up on lambs, just in case he falls apart from all the "day spa trips", aka washing machine trips he gets. Aunt Cary and Becca came to visit this week. We worked on decorating the baby's room. It's coming along slowly but surely. I think that about wraps things up for now. You'll hear from me again when she turns 1!

10 months old

Izzy is 10 months old and very excited to be getting a baby SISTER in November! I know, I'm huge...no one believes I'm only 5 months pregnant. Oh well, there's nothing I can do about it now. Alright, on to Izzy. She can stand up without holding on to anything, but she'll only walk around if she can hold onto something. She is walking all over the house and getting into EVERYTHING!!!! I swear I can't turn away for a single minute. She has started crawling to the door when Matt gets home from work and then follows him wherever he goes. Come 6:00 she's totally over me. She's a great eater..she'll pretty much eat anything we put in front of her. She is FINALLY holding her own bottle. It is so nice, especially on car rides. No more climbing in the back just to give her a bottle. She can also drink from a straw now. So we are going to move onto straw sippy cups. What a big girl!!! We went to Ferriday for the 4th of July and Izzy rode the 4-wheeler with Papaw every day we were there. They would watch the grass grow and count the horses. She loved it. I know I'm crazy for letting my 10 month old ride the 4-wheeler, but they are very safe. By the last day Izzy was sitting straight up with her hands in the air like she was on a roller coaster. It was really cute. I guess that about wraps it up for now. Enjoy the pics! :)

9 Months Old

Isabelle is now 9 months old and getting into EVERYTHING!! She started crawling two days after she turned 9 months. Four days later she pulled herself up to standing all by herself. She doesn't want to crawl, she'd much rather stand up and play or walk back and forth holding onto the couch. Now when we put her on the floor she immediately crawls to the nearest piece of furniture and stands up. We bought her a walker so she can roam the house and I don't have to worry about her falling or getting into anything, and let me tell you she is all over the place. I'll say "Izzy where are you?" and she'll honk her horn so I can find her. It's adorable. Naptime has become quite interesting...she now plays in her bed for an hour before completely wearing herself out. She just walks all over her bed, and she has started throwing her stuffed animals out of the bed too. She also started drinking from a sippy cup that same week. She's still not very good at tilting it up, but she's slowly getting the hang of it. Her favorite word is "gum". She says it all day long, "gum, gum, gum". It's very cute, but we have no idea what it means. We went to the zoo for Father's Day. It was her first time at the zoo. She didn't even notice there were animals there, but she really enjoyed people watching. As you can see from the pictures, Matt and Iz had a great day together. We find out on friday if Izzy is going to have a baby brother or sister. I know she can't wait! I'll update the blog to let everyone know what the new baby is going to be!!!

Palm Desert, California

We went to Palm Desert, California for vacation last week. My bets friend Lauren, her husband David and their daughter Caroline met us there. We had so much fun. Caroline spent most of the week chasing ducks outside our patio door. Izzy enjoyed watching her while playing in the grass. We took the girls to the pool while the boys played golf everyday. There was a pool that was 1 foot deep...I would put Iz in her float and she would take off. She had so much fun walking all over the pool or being pushed around the pool by Caroline. On wednesday the boys kept the girls ALL day while Lauren and I drove to Burbank to go to a taping of the Ellen Degeneres Show. Before the show we drove around Beverly Hills and walked down Rodeo Drive. It was neat just driving through town. It was really interesting to see where all of our favorite TV shows are taped. We saw Debra Messing and Chris Daughtry at the Ellen Show. It was so much fun, but very tiring. We had to dance and clap and scream the whole time we were there. We were very grateful to have the day to ourselves..of course we missed our girls very much! We had a blast the whole week and were very sad to go. I guess it's back to reality for now.

8 months old

Izzy is 8 months old and getting so big! She still isn't crawling yet, but she is trying. She keeps getting in the push-up position, and then gets frustrated with herself. Her current mode of transportation around the room id rolling. She rolls all over the place. It's really funny. She is very into play food. They're her favorites toys at the moment. She is still saying "mom" and "dada", but her word of the week is "Ga". It's really not a word, but she says it ALL day long. I wish I knew what it meant. She is eating well. She LOVES string cheese and carrots. Goldfish and teddy grahams are her snack staple. We are going on vacation to Palm Desert, CA this weekend, so I'm sure I'll have plenty of pictures to post when we get back.

Raleigh, NC April 20-24 2007

Izzy and I went to Raleigh, NC to see my best friend Lauren and her little girl Caroline while Matt went on his "guy's trip" to Las Vegas. Izzy did great on 3 out of 4 plane rides. I was very proud of her. We had a ton of fun while we were there. Izzy really liked Caroline's toys, especially the play food and a drum that says the ABC's. The girls played very well together. We went with Lauren and Caroline to Kindermusic on monday. Izzy LOVED it. I'm going to have to look into a class around here that we can go to. While we were there she started waving and clapping. She also ate the following foods for the first time: cheerios, chicken & tater tots. She also tried goldfish, a fruit bar and a piece of Caroline's grilled cheese. She's just growing up so fast.
