Christmas 2006

Isabelle's first Christmas was wonderful! We spent Christmas in Baton Rouge at Becca's house with the whole family. Of course Izzy had no clue what was going on, so really it was all for me and Matt...really just me! We went to church on Christmas eve. Izzy was very well behaved until they sang "Away in a Manger"..that's when she took it upon herself to add some crying to the song. We were off schedule all day and it finally caught up with her around 7 pm. She was not a happy camper. On a normal day she wakes up around 7:30am...well, on Christmas morning she slept until 10am! We had to check her pulse several times just to make sure she was ok. I couldn't stand it. I was so excited about Santa and her cousins had already been up for hours playing with their new toys. Santa was very good to Izzy. He brought her some new books and teething toys. She got her very first LSU t-shirt too. He also brought her a purple elephant rocking horse..well, actually aunt Courtney and uncle Patrick got that for her, but it just looked so cute with all of her Santa stuff. Speaking of Aunt Courtney, she bought matching Pj's for the kids. They all looked so cute in their light blue pj's with Santa all over the pants and one Santa on the shirt. They fit Izzy perfectly! We had a really great day! I took tons of pictures and captured every moment. We gave her a megasaucer. She is still a little too small for it, but she'll be big enough very soon. We measured her at Mamaw & Papaw Horne's, and she has grown an inch since we measured her at Thanksgiving. It's amazing how fast she is growing. Christmas was great, but we are very glad to be back at our house!

Christmas Card 2006

These are the pictures I used on our Christmas card this year!

These pictures were taken when I was trying to get a Christmas card picture. She had more fun playing with the tissue paper. You can tell she finally had enough of the photo session...I never thought my 3 month old would stick her tongue out at me!

16 Weeks Old

Izzy loves to sit with us while we eat dinner every night. She sits quietly while we discuss our day and enjoy dinner. I've noticed that she's been trying to put her feet on the table lately. Well as you can see she finally did it the other night. She was just so proud of herself. We will definately work on her table manners when she gets a little older. Right now she's just too darn cute to tell her not to.

15 Weeks Old

Here are two pictures of Izzy at 15 weeks old. In the first pic she is watching TV. What a teenage pose. It's hard to believe she's only 3 1/2 months old. I took the other picture one morning when I went to get her out of bed and she just looked so silly I had to get the camera.

9 1/2 weeks old

Look at that smile! Now if I could just get them both to smile that would be great!

2 Month Checkup

Today was Izzy's 2 month check-up and her first round of shots! She weighs 9 lb 14 oz and is 22 inches long. Dr. Yukon was very impressed with how well she holds her head up. He put her on her stomach to see what she would do and she immediately rolled over to her back! It sort of scared her so she started crying. He put her on some medicine to help with her reflux..he said it won't stop the spit up, it will just help with the pain. She cried very loud when she got her shots, but has been pretty content since then. Izzy really had fun laying on the exam table. She kept kicking her legs on the paper. I think she liked the noise it made. She also couldn't get enough of the animals on the wall. She thought they were hilarious. Overall she got an A+ today. We go back in 2 months for another round of shots!

Halloween

We went to a Halloween party friday night! I thought everyone would enjoy our halloween pictures. As you can see Isabelle was a flower, I was a gardener and Matt was..as he calls it, a bag if $#!+..fertilizer! I thought the costumes turned out pretty good. We got home around 9:45pm so I put Izzy down as soon as we got home. To our surprise she slept until 7:30am!!! She slept throught the night for the very first time at 8 weeks old. We were so proud of her. We'll see if it happens again or if it was just a fluke. At least we know she can do it.

The Girls

As you can see, Caroline tried her hardest to get Isabelle's attention. I promise no one was hurt in the photographs! It looks bad, but Izzy took it like a champ!

Best Friends

Here are some pictures from Lauren and Caroline's visit to Olive Branch! We had so much fun watching the girls together. Of course Caroline didn't realize there was another baby until Izzy started crying in the car and Caroline looked over at her like "When did you get here?" After that Caroline was very interested in her new freind. She was trying to grab Izzy's feet and anything else she could get a hold of. It's amazing how much smaller Isabelle is than Caroline and they are only 5 months apart. It will be fun to see how much they have grown in 6 months time. Lauren and I are hoping they will be the very best of friends just like their mommies!

First Road Trip

We took Isabelle on her first road trip to Opry Land in Nashville, TN this week. Matt had a conference there and he invited the "girls" to go with him. Isabelle did great in the car there and back, and she was very well behaved the entire trip! She had a few crying spells at night, but other than that she was a perfect travel companion. While dad was at seminars all day, Izzy and I went to the Opry Mills Outlet Mall pretty much everyday. It is a very big mall so we were able to stretch it out over a couple of days. We had a blast, but we are glad to be back home.

Getting bigger

I've been very bad about updating this site, so I've been told! Well, here are some new pictures. Isabelle is definately growing. She is getting longer and fatter! She is becoming a chunky baby. You can tell by her multiple chins and fat thighs. Her cheeks are starting to be squeezable as well. But she's still so tiny, you can see in the picture of her and Matt laying next to each other. I think she is over 8 lbs now, but we won't know how much she really weighs until we go back to the doctor in November. She's also much more alert now. She stays awake for longer periods of time and she really looks at us. She looks past us alot, but every now and then we have eye contact. I can't believe how fast she is growing!

Thursday, September 14, 2006

These are 2 pictures from today. I know every picture of her is either in a diaper or a onesie, but nothing fits her yet. I've tried to put dresses on her and they just look silly! I think she's eating well and gaining weight...she definately has rolls under chin. I think she's going to have her mommy's dark circles under her eyes. Everything else about her is her father. That's all for now, just wanted to share these pics.

First Doctors Appt

Today we had our first doctors appt. Isabelle didn't cry once. I was very proud of her. She is back up to her birth weight plus an ounce, 6 lb 5 oz. Dr. Yukon said her color looks great. He said everything looked good and that we could get out into the world again. He gave us the OK to go strolling, which I was very excited about. We go back in 2 weeks for a weight check, and then again in November for a 2 month check-up with her first set of shots..YIKES!!!

The pediatrician said Isabelle looked a little yellow, but nothing a good sunbath wouldn't take care of. These are pictures of Izzy sunbathing in her boppy.

Isabelle Somers Horne was born on August 31, 2006 at 5:47 pm. She weighed 6 lb 4 oz and was 19 1/4 inches long. She had a red mark on her right cheek from the forceps and she has a brown birthmark on her upper thigh right below her left butt cheek. She has a full head of brown hair. I knew she'd have hair, but not this much. She is precious, and such a good baby.
