Beach Trip with the Raymer's

We went to Panama City, Florida the last weekend of March to with our best friends Lauren, David and Caroline Raymer. They are in the middle of moving out of their house and into a new one and had a week in between with nowhere to go so they decided to go to her dad's condo at the beach. Luckily we were invited to join them. It was so much fun I wish we could have stayed longer. The first day we went to the beach Izzy freaked out! I mean she was screaming and would not let us put her down. She was clinging to us so tight you would think we were trying to make her walk through fire. She finally was ok sitting in the sand by our chairs, but she kept her shoes on. The next day she walked around a little bit, with shoes on and played in the sand a little closer to the water. By the third day she was running right into the waves. It took her three days, but she finally warmed up to it. Emma enjoyed being outside too. She would just soak in the sun and nap. What a rough life she has. Caroline is 2, 5 months older than Izzy. We were interested to see if the girls would play together. They really just played near each other, but never really with each other. Maybe next time when they are both a little older. The trip was very fun and as relaxing as it could possibly be with 3 kids in tow.

Easter

We had a wonderful Easter. We went to the annual family crawfish boil/Easter egg hunt on saturday. Izzy got to hunt Easter eggs for the first time. I was a little concerned that the big kids were going to get them all before Izzy even got a chance to look. Boy was I wrong. Izzy was all over it. She was a great egg hunter. But she didn't quite understand that she was supposed to keep them in her basket. She would fill up her basket and then swing it around so that all the eggs flew out on the ground. She thought that was more fun. We finally gave up and just let her have fun. She thoroughly enjoyed her first candy necklace too. We went to church with the family on Easter sunday and put the girls in the nursery. Izzy screamed like we were never going to come back. She was that kid that everyone in the hall could hear screaming. She was still crying when we went to get her. The ladies in the nursery said she quit crying at some point, but I think they were just saying that to make us feel better. Izzy looked completely worn out. Looks like I'm going to have some trouble this fall with Mother's Day Out. Emma, of course, had been changed out of her dress and into her extra outfit. The head nurse/nursery lady was in charged of her because as they put it, "She puked!" I hate when they say that. She spit up! Now yes, I am aware of the severity of her spitting up, but the word puked is really not necessary. So after church we went to my mom's house for lunch. The kids played outside and had a great time. Izzy enjoyed lunch so much that she decided to eat off of everyones plates when she finished hers. It really was a great weekend.

Emma & Isabelle's Baptism

Well we finally had the girls Baptized. We decided to do both girls at the same time. It really worked out great. We went to Ferriday and had them Baptized at the Presbyterian Church there where Matt's parents are members. It was perfect. Izzy was a little squirmy. Matt had trouble holding onto her. But Emma was a sweet angel. The pictures above were taken after the ceremony in a cradle that has been in the Horne Family for over 100 years.

March 2008

Izzy is 18 months old and Emma is 4 months old. Izzy is a wild child. She is very small, but she is so full of energy. She never sits down all day unless it's to eat. She plays hard all day long. Her favorite toys are her baby dolls and their stroller and her puzzles. She's very good at putting puzzles together. She does get very frustrated with herself if she can't get the piece to fit immediately. She loves playing outside and digging in the flower beds. Emma is smiling up a storm and growing like a weed. She is now eating rice and oatmeal cereals and we've started baby food. She is a very good eater. She is still spitting up all day long. We are still having to change her clothes at least 6 times a day. It's crazy. I'm just ready for this to stop. We've started painting a few bathrooms and really getting the house together. I know we've been here 5 months already but it takes time to get everything just right. Slowly but surely!
